Organizations and companies can partner with the VITA Program at Greater Mt. Sinai MBC of Compton by providing financial support, volunteer manpower, or in-kind resources. There are sponsorship  opportunities for corporations for VITA GMS to conduct training sessions and more. Additionally, organizations can contribute to outreach initiatives and help to spread awareness of the services offered to low-income families. This collaboration not only fosters community engagement but also strengthens corporate social responsibility efforts. Together, we can make a significant impact on the financial well-being of residents in Compton.

VITA GMS is composed of volunteers from the community. We are committed to helping by undergoing advanced training programs supported by the IRS and other community partners.

All volunteers receive IRS certification before working with clients. VITA GMS services are not only free, but we are also a reliable and trusted source for preparing tax returns. VITA GMS has volunteers in Basic, Advanced, Military and Foreign Student VITA certifications. The Basic certification aids the taxpayer in completing the 1040 tax form. The Advanced certification allows the Tax Preparer to assist with self-employment issue for the 1040, schedule A deductions and stock dividends. The military certification holder specializes in tax income that requires itemized deduction allocated to schedule C. Certification training also includes maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of all taxpayer information.

In addition to requiring our volunteers to certify their knowledge of the tax laws, the IRS requires a quality review check for every return prepared at a VITA site prior to filing. VITA GMS volunteers completed over 1,000 tax claims in 2024.

Our site has increased the number of available volunteers by increasing and hours for tax preparation services from once a week (Saturdays) to three days a week (Tuesday, Thursday).
